Frequently Asked Questions About Our Counselling Services
What is counselling?
Many people who seek help through counselling are often unclear about what may be involved.
Counselling is a process that enables the individual to explore any personal concerns and difficulties that may be inhibiting their life. The aim of this process is that the individual will be able to manage their life more effectively. This is best achieved with someone who is a skilled and compassionate listener, who is non-judgmental and well placed to offer advice is a way that is rarely possible with family or friends.
How many sessions are there?
There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions. Different clients may benefit from short terms counselling (up to 8 sessions) and long term counselling ( 30 sessions or more) according to their individual needs.
How long is a session?
For adults, most sessions will be 50 minutes long. However, sometimes it is helpful to have longer sessions- particularly for couples. For children, sessions are sometimes shorter often lasting 45 minutes. Sessions are weekly.
What is the cost?
Prices start from £15 and are based on income. If you earn more we ask you to contribute more which enables us to subsidise our services for those who need it. Please see our charges explained section for more detail.
Why do you have a Donations page?
We receive no funding from the government or NHS. All our work relies on the kind contributions of clients and outside donators. If you would like to support our work in supporting others, please visit our donations page.
