Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Counselling Services
What is counselling?
Many people who seek help through counselling are often
unclear about what may be involved.
Counselling is a process that enables the individual to
explore any personal concerns and difficulties that may
be inhibiting their life. The aim of this process is that
the individual will be able to manage their life more effectively.
This is best achieved with someone who is a skilled and
compassionate listener, who is non-judgmental and well
placed to offer advice is a way that is rarely possible
with family or friends.
How many sessions are there?
There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions. Different
clients may benefit from short terms counselling (up to
8 sessions) and long term counselling ( 30 sessions or
more) according to their individual needs.
How long is a session?
For adults, most sessions will be an hour long. However,
sometimes it is helpful to have longer sessions, particularly
for couples. For children, sessions are shorter often lasting
30-40 minutes.
What is the cost?
Prices start from £4 for individual sessions and £8
for couples if you are on a low income, unemployed or receiving
benefits. We aim to keep all costs low, whatever your circumstances.
